Film Studies  - What is it?

9/28/2016

Why do we do Film Studies?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_studies

Film Studies - "Paper Boy" is a film by Clay Borris (1971).  The film is available from the National Film Board of Canada.

Post-viewing discussion:

(1) What is the story?  How would you interpret the ending?
(2) What filming techniques were used?  (lighting, camera, costume, etc)
(3) What does the repeated hair combing suggest?
(4) What can we tell about the character?
(5) There are no dialogues.  Do you feel that it should have dialogues?

Using 6-8 pictures, make a short story.  You can only use pictures, no words or sound.  Make sure to set the scene, develop the story, and have a clear ending.  You can choose to draw the pictures, but that may take more time to complete as your drawings need to have details.  All projects will be presented as we are doing peer assessment.

Duration: 6-8 pictures
Presentation Date: Oct 4 Tuesday or Oct 6 Thursday during class
