We continued to look at order of operations for fractions and decimals today.
Puzzle 26: Three Slices of Toasts Today we did Order of Operations (BEDMAS). There are multiple handouts for practice. The students also had a chance to look at their quiz from last class. Puzzle 48: Tax Collector
We looked at square and square root today. We discussed the notion of a perfect square and also how to use benchmarking to estimate a square root.
We also introduced order of operations with rational numbers. Practice: Chapter 2.4 Page 78 # 7-14, 17, 18, 20 Quiz # 1 completed today. We did practice for the quiz today after the puzzle.
Please be reminded that the quiz is next class. Practice questions are posted plus the many worksheets. Although homework is not collected, I expect you to be practicing. Puzzle 6: Flipping Cards We went over rational numbers in decimal form and fraction forms today. Books were distributed. Rubric for Term 1 project also distributed.
