Review class. Chapter Test next week Oct 5 Wednesday.
Quizzed 1.3. Problem of the Day: Turning on and off the lights We completed 1.4 today, Inverse of a Function.
In this section, you need to be able to: determine if an inverse is a function, how to restrict domain and range, and determine the equation of the inverse. Review next class with the Chapter Test next week Oct 5 Wednesday. Problem of the Day: Coins Rearrangement There are three key concepts for combination of transformations you need to know:
We covered the first bullet in length and will cover the next two bullets as well as 1.4 Inverse Functions next class. Quizzed 1.2. There were 2 handouts given the Project Rubric and the Chapter 1 Review Package. CHAPTER 1 TEST OCT 5 WEDNESDAY Problem of the Day: Counters on a Grid We started combining all transformations today. While the book presented stepbystep transformation for points mapping, I introduced getting the mapping first and then calculate the points. We briefly looked at writing and equation from a graph by first finding the mapping and then converting to the equation (while the book looks for the values of 1, b, h, and k and then inputting into the equation). Note that h and k can be read from a graph or calculated based on the mapping.
Problem of the Day: Card Sequencing Chapter 1.2 Finished
Today we explored the idea of vertical and horizontal expansion/compression. Please make sure to practice as we didn't spend as much time on it. We will be looking at 1.3 and writing an equation from a graph next class. Quizzed 1.1. Problem of the Day: CrossNumber Puzzle We discussed reflection with translations today for both vertical and horizontal. Recall that we need to finish all vertical transformation and then horizontal, or you can do all horizontal and then vertical. Don't mix them up. Be aware of the sequence/steps for transformation. I also introduced a short cut to find mapping.
Problem of the Day: Hexagon Game Chapter 1.2 Part 1 Vertical and Horizontal reflections
We discussed vertical and horizontal reflections and combination with translations. We investigated when do we do reflection first or translation first. The order what to do first will be further investigated next class. Problem of the Day: Money Coin Flipping with 1001 loonies Chapter 1.1 Vertical and Horizontal translations
We discussed what the translations are like for different values of h and k, and we wrote the mapping. Problem of the Day: Magic Sum of Fractions [sum = n/(n+f)] where f are factors of n^2 Welcome to PreCal 12! Math is Fun, and we will strive to enjoy our time together learning the new curriculum.
